My old computer runs Windows ME, I'm trying to get several files off of it to move to my new computer, however, none of the file will move out of the folders they are in, I try to cut and paste, copy them into another file, but nothing happens, except that I get a pinging sound, much like the ones I'd get if I were trying to click on something that isn't a link. None of the files will move anywhere I want them to.
any idea what's up here?

Sounds as if an important resource was deleted from your PC. Usually at work, they'd have me varify that you are telling the full truth, and are not wrong about what the issue is, But, I trust you know how to move a file, heh. I'd need to know the following info:What type of device are you moving them to, What type of file are they(If they extension is not showing, just tell me if it is a word docu, an online resource, ect. Whatever it is.)

It would be a flashdrive thing. Any kind of file, really, Works documents, Jpeg, BMP, notepad files, etc. All the stuff that's in my folder, my writing, notes, and pictures.

I got most of my important ones by saving the files again onto the flash drive. But that takes a long time, especially witht he pictures.

Have you tried the Folder itself? Of coourse, The simplest method would be to use a CMD command to transfer them... BUT that is a simple idea for ME. Not for you. If you had a device that I could view your pc remotely, It would be easier. But, even if you do, I do not expect you to trust me with it. And if you DO trust me with it, be prepared to have a list of Important things to PC security go over to the flash drive, as well.

But, I will do some research for these particular commands, and test them myself(There are a thousand + known CMD commands, so if you expect me to just Remember them, then you are crazy)
